Chris Jack of the Glasgow Evening Times says that Allan McGregor is close to signing a new contract with Rangers. Jack reported on the newspaper's website that the 40-year-old goalkeeper has decided to extend his stay at Ibrox for another season and that he could also become a coach in his new terms. Jack says thatMcGregor is about to accept the offer that is on the table and put pen-to-paper on a new deal. Same squad next year? With a few exceptions, it looks as if Rangers will go into the next season with the same aging squad as they have done this season. At 40-years-of-age, he is a great goalkeeper. He had some good moments over the years, but he wasn't as good as he was when we won the Scottish title. We won the Scottish Cup this season but we were a lot worse in the league and the performances became more predictable as the season went on. This summer should have been a summer of change where the club would move on some players who have been with us for a long time, make big profits on those who are out of contract next year, and build a better squad. It looks like the squad's stagnation could continue with no real clues about the future of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos among those who are staying. Celtic went for a complete overhaul last year. It worked out well for them. They won the league and will be in the group stages of the competition. We came close to not winning any silverware at all this season because of Rangers' stubbornness.
